The great Colosseum of Rome is an historic preservation and an exceptional tourist spot. Its maintenance gives a perfect example of the way Europeans have preserved their architecture throughout the past years. The spot has an audience of thousands of tourists per day.
The Colosseum was used for various activities such as gladiatorial contests, mock sea battles, animal hunts, re-enactments of famous battles and dramas based on Classical Mythology.
However, the activities ceased to occur in the early medieval era.
Sight seeing of the Colosseum is free of cost but to have glimpse of its inner design requires a ticket which is 2125/-PKR per person. Children and teenagers under the age of 18 does not require a pass. Tourist can even have a tour of the Colosseum from inside at night as well and whoever wants can also experience the joy of spending an entire night inside.
Food and beverages can easily be availed at nearby restaurants. Many people sale water bottles outside the Colosseum so it wont be a problem if any of you does not carry your own water bottles.
For tourists to have great view of the whole sight captured in their photographs, many spots has been built for clicking pictures. To stand on the large stones scattered in the grounds is one of the best way to get the whole sight captured in the camera.
However, the surroundings of the place are not clean as Rome itself is dirty.
The recommended dress for the day depends on the weather but its always good to wear t shirts paired with jeans or trousers.
The fares of taxis are a bit expensive in Rome so its better to rent a hotel in the middle of the city. This has an avid advantage that all the famous tourist spots in Rome specially the Colosseum will be near to your hotel . This will prevent you from spending your money extravagantly on taxis.
We would definitely recommend everyone visiting Rome to see this largest amphitheatre ever built. It is an extremely wonderful experience to visit an ancient place like this.
